‘Come Debate With Me’ Workshop
The workshop was held at New Strait Times Training Centre, Bangsar Headquarters from the 16th to the 17th of March 2009. Students who were interested paid a fee of RM150.
This workshop introduces students to Parliamentary style debate which is more challenging and interesting as compared to memorized speeches. Moreover, students are required to think of arguments which are apt, rational and effective on the spot. This element in this style of debate, rebuttals and point of information test the debaters maturity level, speech eloquence and thinking very quickly on their feet.
The aim of the workshop is to develop critical and creative thinking skills amongst potential debaters. In addition, students who are confident and articulate in English can be produced. Reinforcing the Parliamentary style debate and to prepare students for ‘World Schools Debate Championship’ are other objectives of this workshop.
