Language Week which was held in April is a very important event in SMK Convent Bukit Nanas as it helps create students who are confident, articulate, and eloquent. Language Week for the Year 2009 was held on the 8th, 9th & 13th of April in the Convent Bukit Nanas Hall from 8.00-12.30p.m.

Language Week is a tradition in our school as it upgrades students’ proficiency in both spoken and written English. Moreover, it encourages young people to aspire higher standards of academic and creative writing as well encourages creativity and the ability to express it through the various activities planned during the week.

The main reason such an activity is carried out in this institution is that students who still lack public speaking skills can be further cultivated and enhanced through the language week programme.

An array of activities were held during this exciting and splendid week. We had the poetry recitation for the form 1 students, choral speaking for the form 2 students, elocution for the form 3 students, duet acting for the form 4 students, upper secondary elocution for the form 3-6 students, inter class drama for the form 5 students, impromptu speech for the upper and lower secondary and a spell-it-right competition for the lower secondary.

It was most certainly a great three days. Everyone had a great time. To set the bar a little higher, we had the privilege of having professional judges from top notch institutions to help with the judging of these competitions.
